Everyone who knows me remotely will understand why I chose this photo and what it means to me. Long story short, I kind of have a small obsession with all things astronauts and space and missions and everything. It's so much fun and all of it is beautiful. I love, well, space.
I can't remember when I saw this photo for the first time, but it was around the middle of first semester. I loved it immediately. Women astronauts are rare. When I saw this photo, it's almost like my entire life led up to that moment. I thought, wow. Like, I can see myself doing this. That could be me. She could be me. I saw myself in her, looking out over the earth.
I realized that, for her to be there, in the Cupola of the ISS, she gave 500% of herself. She became the best - academically, physically, emotionally, professionally. She saw herself as something and gave EVERYTHING she could to achieve it.
This is like the ideal Isabella. Someone who has become the best version of themselves. And that stuck with me. I don't always act on it, but when I see this photo - I have it posted everywhere - I stand back and think. Because, well, I want that to be me. And this photo reminds me how to get there.
